TRYOUTS FAQ

HOW WILL TRYOUTS WORK?

ALL non Surf players who wish to join our club will have a home, as long as we have a space on one of our teams. If new players are unable to attend a tryout session starting June 15th, or we are unable to host on field sessions, we will evaluate players virtually via ZOOM.

Questions about level of play and team placement might come to mind. Much of our country’s return to train, play and compete protocols will require social distancing training and smaller group sizes. First we will focus on getting players back to training in a safe manner. At some point, we will transition to competition focused trainings, and refine evaluating and placing players on teams

WHAT ABOUT HEALTH AND SAFETY?

The health and safety of our players, coaches, and Surf families take priority in all our Surf decisions. While orders from Governor Newsom to prevent the spread of Coronavirus remain in place, Surf has created a detailed list of precautions and processes to be implemented once tryouts and trainings are allowed.

Surf has developed a Return to Train, Play and Compete COVID-19 Protocols to implement in conjunction with health professionals, infectious disease specialists, and information from the Centers for Disease Control & OSHA. The protocols do not have a specific duration, but the club will adhere to the recommendations of public health officials and make adjustments when needed. These protocols will be in addition to a liberal sick leave policy for our coaches and staff.

No, there is no cost to tryout.

AFTER THE EVALUATION, WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS?

Once the Virtual session has concluded, our coaches  will work together to find the appropriate team for your child. Our objective is to find a place for all players wanting to play with our club. Families will be contacted with team offers 48 hours after the Virtual sessions has concluded. Each player will have an acceptance deadline in which to register online. If that deadline is missed, your spot may be offered to another player.
