MCFC Merges with Monterey Surf
The leadership of two existing soccer clubs with long and proud histories, Monterey Surf Soccer Club and Monterey County Futbol Club, announced to their current families a new combined structure that will lead to greater opportunities for players and families and growing influence in the Monterey County Market and beyond starting on July 1, 2020.
“This new organization merges history with innovation, competition and the best training available in Monterey County. Led by former professional players, college coaches, local high school coaches and an entire staff of licensed coaches linked to the most successful club in the nation. Monterey Surf looks to bring experiences and opportunities never before seen in this part of California.” - Brett Rosenberger, Director of Coaching
Monterey Surf Monterey Surf Soccer Club and Monterey County Futbol Club will integrate the clubs with a near-term focus on providing elite programming and opportunity for our current teams. The long term goal is to be a destination for youth soccer development on the Central Coast and provide a clear pathway from recreational soccer to college for our local youth athletes.
“Monterey County has a long history and tradition of developing competitive soccer players. This combination will allow us the scale to compete in a wider area, allowing players to stay local for practice and games while receiving training from high-level, licensed coaches.” - Troy Grande, MCFC
The new combined club, Monterey Surf, will have over 15+ teams competing in the NorCal Premier League, 15+ coaches with the highest concentration of USSF licensed coaches in the area, and brings together the best of the best for training and competition. This will solidify Monterey Surf as an elite club in Northern California.
Monterey Surf and Monterey County Futbol Club are excited about the future of soccer in Monterey County for all of our families. We will be holding online Town-Hall meetings over the next few weeks to answer all questions and provide more information about the restart of soccer. Please email your questions to
